picoStudio (and the project server script picoSite) allow you to manage a website
or build an application using a web-based tool. Using picoStudio, you can manage
your work from anywhere you have a web browser. No other tools are required.
Easy to install, with a simple text-based interface means you can work even when
you don't have a fast connection. If you like to edit code by hand on the go, and
want the ability to collaborate on the go as well, you might find picoStudio fun
to play with.
picoStudio has many features that might surprise you:
- Syntax highlighting editor (non-wysiwyg)
- HTML Color picker
- Internal messaging between developers
- The ability to Import/Export projects (backups)
- File and Project level versioning
- Project Copying (Copy one project over another, think releasing)
- Storage of all code and binary files in the database
- Status of who's online and what project/file they are working in
picoStudio is currently functional, but considered Alpha/Beta software. It needs
testing, and input from you to help polish it and make sure it's safe for use in
a production environment. So for now, we would not recommend that it be used
on anything you can't afford to lose.
We are currently focused on bugs, documentation and any issues with existing features.
New features will be looked at once we reach a 1.0.0 release.
Our releases can be found here:
Until the help becomes available there are two things that you should understand to help you
make use of picoStudio:
- parse - The parse function works like an include statement. Using parse(file_id) will include the file specified.
- textareas - All textarea tags are converted to a "ta" tag when saved, to eliminate confusion with the code editor container.
